Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law
NARC’S Government will ensure and work for the recognition and observance of the following fundamental principles.
1. That there shall be total adherence and observance of the principles enunciated in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights.
2. That citizens shall have the right to demonstrate against any policy of or measures made by the state.
3. That the constitution of the Nation shall:
I) pronounce clearly and unequivocally on the right of the individual.
ii) Prohibit the passing of any laws limiting or abridging Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Association, or the right of people to impart or receive information.
iii) Outlaw and prohibit the inflicting of cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment on any person by the state or any of its organs.
iv) Abolish the death penalty.
v) Prohibit the deprivation of private property without due process of law.
vi) Prohibit for any reason the suspension of individual rights safeguarded by the Constitution.
ii) Promote the equality of all persons before the law irrespective of their sex, religion, status, race, ethnic origin or political affiliation.
